Impinging jets are generated in nozzles directed towards the object surface. This paper summarises experience obtained in developing a nozzle for the heating purpose. So far unique is its ability of switching between twodifferent flow regimes without action of mechanical (moved or deformed) components. The changetakes place in response to a fluidic signal — a small input control flow. Advantages are robustness, nomaintenance, long life, resistance to high temperature, vibration, and acceleration. In absence of thecontrol flow the generated jet is narrow, focused on a small central spot on the impingement surface.Admission of the control flow spreads the (less intensive) heat transport to a larger surface area. Becauseof the fast response (no inertia of moving components), the nozzle can be switched at high frequencythus achieving pulse-width continuous modulation of the heating.
