    The 18-24 months of the project solution were devoted to modification of a carbon black by carbidization of pre-deposited Mo and W in Ar at 800 and 950 C, respectively. The purpose was to deposit 60 wt. % of Pt onto the modified carbon black. Furthermore, a new dechlorination method was aimed to develop to avoid using solution of NaOH and water as dechlorinating agents. The experimental grade of carbon black PX3 (CB6) was also used as a support for preparation of Pt electrocatalysts in analogy to previously reported medium surface area supports carbon blacks PT-P (CB1), PT-C (CB2), XE-N (CB3), BL (CB4), and PT-H (CB5), (Imerys, Ltd., Switzerland).
