The study compared the impairment of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and mild cognitive impairment (MCI) patients in three tests of higher visual cognition: recognition of famous landmarks, famous faces and facial emotions, associated with distinct areas within the temporal lobe. The MCI patients were impairmet mostly in famous landmarks recognition, as predicted by the spread of the disease in the temporal lobe. Famous landmark identification may contribute to identification of patients at risk of AD
