The aim of our presentation is to quantitatively estimate the impact of these large water areas on the air temperature in their surroundings. The estimates are calculated using the COSMO NWP model. We use the COSMO model (version 4.18) with a horizontal resolution of 333 m and with a time step 6 s. The model domain is flat and a lake is modelled as a rectangular area. To simulate the impact of the lake the FLAKE model, which is part of the COSMO code, is switched on.
