Despite the fact that an interest in exploration of physical processes in the Earth's plasmasphere and upper ionosphere has become more active lately, a number of problems on formation and dynamics of plasma structures in the inner magnetosphere adjacent to the planet remain unsolved. Some of these issues may be clarified by means of the Plasma Instrument REPIN within the RESONANCE, project. Further, scientific objectives of this experiment and its main characteristics will be described.
