In general, our observations are indicative of frequent, yet moderate, ion-induced nucleation usually outweighed by much stronger neutral nucleation in the lower troposphere. No evidence on the enhanced role of ion-induced nucleation toward the upper free troposphere, as suggested by some theoretical studies, was obtained from our air craft measurements.
