AnnotationIn this paper, results on the sensitivity to toluene dissolved in water of capillary and microstructure fibers modified with tailored detection xerogel layers are shown. Selected detection xerogel layers with strong responses to toluene were applied onto the walls of capillary fibers and microstructure fibers of grapefruit type. Results obtained show that better sensitivities and responses can be obtained with capillary fibers, where a detection limit on the level of 1 mg.dm-3 was achieved.
