A possible relationship between the p53 polymorphisms and apoptosis was investigated. The study focused on two polymorphisms (p53 BstUI SNP on the 4th exon and p53 MspI SNP on the 6th exon) in relation to apoptosis of white blood cells in lung cancer patients and healthy controls were studied. Obtained results suggest that p53 BstUI and p53 MspISNP may play a certain role in p53 dependent apoptotic pathway.
