The free atom decay rate is greatly enhanced at higher analyte concentrations, which is a source of calibration curvature. The presence of zones where once reacted atoms are reatomized at the tube ends was directly proven: the sensitivity is improved and calibration bending is attenuated. Recommendations concerning the quartz tube design and dimensions are given.
