The study describes status of Czech colonies of Euphydryas aurinia, butterfly of European conservation concern. It focuses on the spatial distribution of colonies, their size and changes detected during 4 years of monitoring are described. The species exhibits a metapopulation structure and inhabits such a limited area that its long-term conservation is unthinkable without landscape-scale restoration of its habitats

Práce popisuje stav českých kolonií celoevropsky ohroženého hnědáska chrastavcového. Soustředí se na jejich prostorovou distribuci, změny zjištěné během čtyřletého monitoringu a příčiny ohrožení. Motýl vykazuje metapopulační strukturu s několika shluky kolonií v oblasti západních Čech. Rozsah obývaného území je tak malý, že se dlouhodobá ochrana neobejde bez zvýšení počtu stanovišť jejich cílenou obnovou
