Na dvou příkladech se ukazuje využití tenzometrie při zjišťování příčin poruch. První příklad je teoretický, zabývá se určením maximálního napětí v tlakové nádobě. Problém nelze úspěšně řešit bez znalosti teorie skořepin. Druhý příklad se týká únavových lomů šroubů v přírubě spojující ložiskový čep s tělesem kolenové vodní turbiny s horizontálním hřídelem v jedné pražské elektrárně.

The utilization of tensometric measurements for detection of causes of machine failures will be demonstrated in two examples. The first one is theoretical; it is concerned with the search for maximum stress in a pressure vessel. The problem cannot be successfully solved without knowledge of the theory of shells. The second one deals with a problem of screw fatigue failures at a flange connecting the journal with the body of an elbow water turbine with horizontal shaft at a hydro-electric power plant in Prague.
