The paper is an attempt at a reconstruction of the image of India in the consciousness of the educated Czech public (i.e. public reading in the Czech language) in the context of the Czech revivalist movement during the first half of the 19th century.

Příspěvek je pokusem o rekonstrukci obrazu Indie v povědomí vzdělané české veřejnosti v první polovině 19. století v kontextu obrozenských snah o povznesení prestiže českého jazyka.
