AnnotationThe paper focuses on the experimental investigation of the active control of an annular jet by means of swirling effect. Experiments were performed in air using flow visualization, PIV measurement and microphone measurement of the pressure fluctuation. Five swirl numbers were tested, including the case with no control, i.e. the swirl number was zero. It was shown that weak swirling stabilizes the flowfield pattern, while the stronger swirling promotes the enhancement of velocity fluctuations.
