The incineration technology is a common way to manage the MSW in which the ashes generated have been proved suitable as construction material and as a secondary source of valuable elements. Among the different recovery methods, gravimetric concentration treatments are a common practice for heavy metals recovery in the incineration bottom ash. It is also common in the finest fraction. This research studies the feasibility of using wet magnetic concentrator devices as a complementary treatment for the over-concentration of copper in the dense product obtained after gravimetric treatment by wet shaker table. In addition, a liberation treatment of this metal by milling and selective sieving is presented. Results showed that the use of magnetic separators increased the grade of copper by more than 60 % without any significant loss of copper. In addition, the proposed liberation treatment for the dense magnetic product obtained good results, achieving an increment of 2% wt. in copper recovery after three minutes of milling. The results obtained for the non-magnetic product were not satisfactory however, the optimization of several parameters is proposed to improve the treatment efficiency.
