    We consider a model of nonequilibrium pattern formation. Probes on a ring are in contact with a driven diffusive dynamics and, close to the equidistant probe configuration, the induced forces generate a linear dynamics with nonsymmetric coupling constants. The relaxation towards the crystal pattern is analyzed by means of a compound Poisson process.
