AnnotationThe Philosophy of Mathematics Seminar is a space for voices interested in both mathematical practice and mathematical knowledge from broader approaches than the traditional one (which focuses on the foundations of mathematical knowledge and the nature of mathematical objects and our access to them). In its 4th edition, the Seminar began with a talk by José Ferreirós (University of Seville), entitled “Dedekind and the Wolffian Deductive Method”, after which Davide Crippa (Università Ca’ Foscari/FLÚ AV ČR) gave his talk “From geometry to mechanics: the evolution of organic geometry”. The event concluded with a talk by María de Paz (University of Seville), entitled “The methods behind Poincaré’s conventions: structuralism and hypothetical-deductivism”.
