The optimized chemical vapor generation (CVG) of Cd was subsequently coupled with two atomic spectrometric detectors - atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS) with atomization in an externally heated quartz tube atomizer (QTA) and atomic fluorescence spectrometry (AFS) with atomization in a miniature diffusion flame (MDF) as well as flame-in-gas-shield (FIGS). A fast and simple Cd preconcentration step in the gas phase, after CVG with AAS, was developed employing a modular trap-and-atomizer device in order to further improve the LOD.
