Blízkost smrti připomínaná starou ženou byla ve středověké imaginaci vždy rovna i blízkosti věčnému životu. Se stářím a s jeho reflexí je spojena šance na brzký únik ze světa a času, tedy ze života konečného. Description in English Thinking about medieval old women and their paintings has an emancipatory value - it frees not only from conventions and bonds, but also from the dictates of a young-looking, healthy, hard-working and multiplying body. In the medieval imagination, the closeness of death reminded of an old woman was always equal to the closeness to eternal life. With old age and its reflection there is a chance for an early escape from the world and time, i.e. from the final life.
