The article illustrates the varying manifestations of long-distance contacts using a selected number of examples of small finds that were found on the Early Medieval stronghold of Libice nad Cidlinou. The intention was to illustrate the diversity of cultural contacts not only within the context of a particular site - where they were found - but also in terms of their significance in their supposed areas of origin. Such an approach provides us with the opportunity to evaluate the artefacts of foreign origin not only at the level of simple description: it is a rare or unique find.
