AnnotationDespite metallic and polymeric dense structures, ceramics consisting of full or maximum density without any pores are highly preferred for structural and functional applications,in which pores have to be eliminated deliberately to attain better performance.Contrary to high-density ceramics, the lowest density ceramics comprising of certain porosity (fraction of pore volume to the total volume) are also expected to attain high permeability, desirable mechanical properties, chemical and thermal stability, corrosion resistance wear resistance to serve many traditional and advanced technological applications.
