Description in English The clash of cavalry that took place in the final phase of the Battle of Hradec Králové would have gone down in history under different circumstances as an independent ˵battleʺ. 70 squadrons of cavalry joined the battle on both sides. More cavalry had engaged only near Liebertwolkwitz within the Battle of Leipzig on 14 October 1813. The fighting of the Austrian and Prussian cavalries on the Střezetice plain fulfilled only a partial role of the apocalyptic frame of the Battle of Hradec Králové. It was the role important from the strategic point of view, the role full of courage and self−sacrifice, the role which offers the most formidable picture depicting a certain beauty, brilliance and pomposity, nevertheless the role that dies away in the hugeness of the whole battle.
