Description in English During the process of sugar beet harvesting, it is necessary to eliminate time delays caused by replacing worn-out parts, but also to guarantee higher abrasive resistance of stressed parts. A clear solution is to use hard metal weld deposit materials. The application of hard metal does not cause changes in the inner microstructure in the whole profile, but only in the chemically and heat affected area just under the weld bead. The inner profile of the machine part preserves its original tenacity. This paper focuses on using hard metal weld deposits not only for renovations but also for new spare parts. The purpose is to prolong the service life and to increase abrasive wear resistance. Depending on the inner microstructure, the tested materials can be divided into two categories: martensite and austenite. The abrasive wear was tested on Bond’s device. Abrading agents were broken stone and silica sand. The tests have proved a higher abrasive wear resistance of the martensite type of weld metal. However, the choice of hard metal is also influenced by the shape of abrading agents which interact in the wearing process.
