Rockburst is one of the most hazardous problems encountered during underground excavations. This phenomenon always involves a violent energy release with large rock deformation and rock ejection that can produce severe damage to openings, equipment and facilities, and can result in fatalities. Moreover, the sudden nature of rockburst makes it very complicated to predict.
