Fundamental research of the hydrologic cycle in Volyňka catchment was established by the Institute of Hydrodynamics (Academy of Sciences of CR) in 1964 in the framework of the UNESCO Project - International Hydrological Decade. Since 1975 hydrologic cycle is monitored in the Liz and Albrechtec experimental fully forested catchments. The present article describes these catchments and their equipment for the monitoring of the water regime. Obtained results are briefly summarized and early warning system for flash floods based on the gravity driven flow is introduced.
