In ethanol oxidation, the catalytic activity increased linearly with increasing Pt content. In toluene oxidation, an increase in catalytic activity was observed at loadings higher than 0.35 wt.% Pt and was less pronounced. For both model compounds, the increase of catalytic activity after Pt addition can be ascribed to platinum nanoparticles that serve as the active sites for the oxidation reaction. Pre-coating of monolithic catalysts with alumina increased the dispersion of CeZr phase and catalytic aktivity.
