Kniha pojednává problematiku absolutismu jako formy vlády v době vytváření moderního státu. Ve třech oddílech se věnuje mezinárodní politice v Evropě v 17. a 18. století a společenským pilířům absolutismu ve Francii, habsburské monarchii a v jednotlivých státech Svaté říše římské. Poslední část potom reflektuje kulturní procesy na pozadí absolutistické vlády (vývoj náboženství, umění, vznik moderní vědy).
Description in English
The book concerns the problem of absolutism as a form of the government during the process of making the modern state. It contains three parts: the international relations in 17th and 18th centuries and the social pillars of the absolutism in France, Habsburg Monarchy and in the states of the Holy Roman Empire as well. The last part of the book reflects the culture processes in the background of the absolutic rule (the developement of the religion, arts and the creation of modern science).
