This work is focused on the study of the surfaces of electrochemical sensors working electrode. The electrochemical sensor is an electrode system screen-printed by metal pastes on the surface of ceramic or plastic surface. The sensor enables to indicate the presence of electroactive substances contained in tested solutions. Substances are either reduced or oxidized on the surface of working electrode. The bigger the effective electrode area, the higher the measured signal. Screen-printing of metal paste provides rough surface and its area is not equal to the geometrical area of the printed shape. This study attempts to determine real area on the surface of screen-printed electrodes from Pt and Au.
