    Exchange interactions in bulk hcp gadolinium were studied within a classical Heisenberg Hamiltonian the parameters of which were calculated from ab initio electronic structure calculations. The Curie temperature in the mean-field approximation was studied as a function of the lattice parameters and compared to experimental data.
