Annotation	The seasonal variation of gravity wave activity inferred from radio wave absorption in Central Europe displays a tendency to pronounced summer maximum, which is under high solar activity conditions compensated for by wintertime shift of meteorological sources of gravity waves closer to the region of ionospheric observations.
