Annotation
This section of a collective book critically analyzing the Czech transformation experience goes out from a shor re-analysis of the history of the world modernization theory from the 1950s until the 1990s. It applies the authors version of this theory(stresing changes in broadly conceived culture and quality of life) to the historical metamorphoses of Czech society, summarizes the successes and failuresof the modernization changes in the last decade, believing that this is the right approach how to evaluate the results of the recent developments. It offers also some sugggestions for the imprvements in the transformation strategies in the next future.
