The electronic structure, magnetic and transport properties of Cu/M/Cu/M/Cu(001) multilayer systems (M = Fe, Co, Ni) have been studied theoretically from first principles. It is shown that the oscillations of the perpendicular-current giant magnetoresistance ratio are mainly due to oscillations of the minority-spin conductance

Elektronová struktura, magnetické a transportní vlastnosti multivrstev Cu/M/Cu/M/Cu(001) (M = Fe, Co, Ni) byly studovány teoreticky pomocí prvoprincipielních výpočtů. Bylo ukázáno, že oscilace obří magnetorezistance s proudem kolmým k vrstvám vznikají zejména v důsledku oscilací vodivosti elektronů s minoritním spinem
