AnnotationElectrochemical synthesis of elemental carbon (electrochemical carbon) is mostly based on total dehalogenation of perhalogenated hydrocarbons at ambient conditions.Amont the most interesting outputs, we may quote the preparation of carbyne-like materials, fullerene C60 and multiwaled carbon nanotubes by these reactions. Redox doping of carbonaceous nanostructures is easy, versatile and precise in terms of defined amout of doping charge. The Vis-NIR spectroelectrochemistry of single walled carbon nanotubes (SWNCT) points at reversible and fast bleaching of the electronic transitions between Van Hove singularities. A suggested interpretation follows from the electronic structure of peapods.
