Description in English The text is a summary of current knowledge about the development of early medieval pottery production and its chronology in the Prague region. The authoress achieved the presented results on the basis of evaluation of rescue excavations of two important sites from the time of the early Přemyslid state (excavations taking place at Prague Castle in the 1980s and 1990s and at Stará Boleslav between 1988-2005). The study was first based on macroscopic analysis of fragments of settlement pottery (pottery clay, decoration, morphology of rims) from several so-called principal stratigraphies (closed stratigraphic horizons, link to dendrochronological data), which repeatedly documented the development of early medieval fortifications at both sites. Between 2001 and 2012, the results of the macroscopic study were (at least in the case of a limited sample of about eighty representatives of selected pottery classes with more frequent occurrences) verified by petrographic analysis and, in several cases, by analysis of the chemical composition of pottery clay.
