The paper deals with discursive practices that members of multilingual families living in the Czech Republic developed during research interviews. The analysis reveals that the practices were informed by the monolingual language ideology dominant in the Czech Republic. In some cases, though, the monolingual ideology makes respondents' unique experiences untellable and requires further discursive practices to restore tellability.
