The chapter deals with Ernst Mach´s candidacy for the vacant Professorship of Physics both at Carl Ferdinand-Universität in Prague and at the Landes Plytechnisches Institut in Prague in 1866/67. It describes how E. Mach´s candidacies for the two professorships were considered by the respective authorities in context of other applicants for the posts and of the qualification criteria set for the new holders of the posts.
