Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) in combination with immunosuppressive drugs are beneficial in the treatment of inflammatory diseases or transplantation reaction. We tested immunosuppressive drugs with different mechanism of action: cyclosporine A, mycophenolate mofetil and rapamycin in combination with MSCs. By flow cytometry we determined T regulatory cells (CD4+Foxp3+) and Th 17 cells (CD4+RORt+) proportion and the production of IL-17 was measured by ELISA. This study demonstrated that MSCs in combination with different immunosuppressive agents at low concentration have distinct effect on the Treg/Th17 balance.
