In this work we report on the fabrication, characterization and numerical modeling of the holmium-doped cilica-based optical fiber. The characterization covers preform and optical fiber refractive index profiles, holmium concentration distribution, spectral attenuation and cutoff wavelanght, whereas the special attention was paid to fluorescence lifetime measurement.
