    AnnotationThe paper presents the results of Raman spectroscopic study of montmorillonites and kaolinites supplemented with infrared spectroscopy and thermal analysis. Both spectral techniques provide a deep insight into the chemical structure of the clay mineral through vibrational modes, that are related to octahedral, tetrahedral and hydroxyl structure units of the mineral.
