    Stability of a thermal plasma jet was investigated using multidirectional optical diagnostics combined with fast Fourier transform analysis yielding frequency spectra. Stability phenomena have been analyzed in various frequency bands in planes perpendicular to plasma jet axis. The results show that instability amplitudes depend on the frequency and for some frequencies are strongly asymmetrical. This phenomenon affects the mean distribution of instabilities in a different way depending on frequency range and distance from plasma torch nozzle.
