The study deals with the issue of transcendental properties in Francisco Suárez and Johannes-Chrysostomus Javellus (about 1470–1537), often quoted by the Jesuit. Despite significant differences from Scotus, given mainly by the refusal of distinctio formalis, Suárez´s metaphysical project is presented as having its point of departure in the Scotistic “real essence”, while Thomism of Javellus in actual existence. The author traces the consequences of the different metaphysical projects both in the issue of the number/the order of transcendentals and in the question of the immediate division of being.
