In ethanol oxidation, the catalytic activity was in-creasing with increasing Pt content. In toluene oxidation this effect was observed only at higher loadings and was less pronounced. The amount of easily reducible com-ponents in the catalyst was approximately four times higher in comparison with pure CeZr support. Pt pro-moted the reduction of surface ceria, which proceeded at lower temperatures. In ethanol oxidation, acetaldehyde was found as reaction by-product at lower conversions.
