The first survey on the occurrence of viruses and phytoplasma in blueberry Vaccinium corymbosum L. (highbush blueberry) and naturally occurring Vaccinium myrtillus L. was conducted in the Czech Republic in 2005-2010. Plantations, germplasm collections, propagation materials and wild plants were monitored for symptoms, assayed by ELISA kits, for Blueberry scorch virus (BlScV), Blueberry shock virus (BlShV), Blueberry shoestring virus (BSSV), Blueberry leaf mottle virus (BLMoV), Tomato ringspot virus (ToRSV), Tobacco ringspot virus (TRSV) and by PCR for Blueberry red ringspot virus (BRRV) and phytoplasma. In total, 15 locations and 34 cultivars were monitored. Testing for BlScV, BlShV, BSSV, BLMoV, ToRSV, TRSV and phytoplasma was negative. BRRV was detected using primers RRSV3/RRSV4 in 2 plants ´Darrow´ at one location.
