AnnotationThe efficiency of chemical water treatment is dependent on chemical (reaction) conditions, i.e. dosage and type of destabilization reagent and pH, and physical (hydrodynamic) conditions, i.e. intensity of agitation expressed by velocity gradient, time of agitation and distribution of velocity gradient. The experiments proved that velocity gradient is a very effective means for producing aggregates of homogenous physical properties. The method of High Rate Clarification (HRC) in which high velocity gradient is used for the formation of very dense aggregates, followed by low velocity gradient used for the formation of large and heavy agglomerates separable by sedimentation was used.
