Mercury distribution and speciation in soils were studied in historic Hg mining region of Pribram, Czech Republic. Top soil horizons (Ah) in the vicinity of mining shaft were contaminated by HgS, but the HgS contamination of mineral soil horizons is limited to soils downhill from the mine shaft.
