Dynamic mechanical behaviour of stoichiometric as well as off-stoichiometric LC polyurethane networks based on a mesogenic diol (D), diisocyanate (DI) and triol (T) is studied. The effect of various initial molar ratios of the reactive groups and of the ordered or isotropic state of the diol in network formation on the critical gel structure in the sol/gel transition is described. The effect of the amount of mesogenic diol in the network chains on mechanical behaviour of fully cured networks is discussed.
