Statistical co-poly(ester-amides) were synthesized by direct ring-opening copolymerization of lactones and N-carboxyanhydrides of ŕ-amino acids. Block copolymers were prepared by a ring-opening polymerization of lactones starting from poly(amino acid)s with functional end groups as macroinitiators.
