AnnotationApplication of the precautionary principle in assessing climate engineering methods poses a special challenge for law. There are two opposing approaches to understanding the principle in relation to climate engineering present within the scholarship, one concluding in favour and the other against legal support to these technologies. The paper presented both approaches and summarized their main legal arguments, finally defending the approach calling for the more cautious approach, leading to permitting only such methods that pose no significant risk to the environment and human society.
