AnnotationCentral Europe, and especially the Bohemian Kingdom, represent an ancient area of Inquisition. A specific ecclesiastical and political situation prevailed in the Kingdom of Bohemia around 1500, because the Czech utraquist church dominated here. At that time, the Dominican Inquisitor Heinrich Institoris came to the Czech lands, who vainly attempted to disrupt the local “necessary tolerance”.
