Franz Brentano (1838-1917) is viewed as a philosopher who re-introduced the concept of intentionality into modern philosophy. His work spans over many decades and deals with various areas, including metaphysics, logic, ethics, a philosophy of perception and exerted influence in phenomenology, analytic philosophy and philosophy of mind. The conference Franz Brentano Centenary 1838–1917 commemorates one hundred years since Brentano‘s death and targets all aspects of Brentano‘s thinking – and especially those which might still prove relevant in contemporary discussions concerning being, mind, truth and values.
