The results showed that, in all archives, indoor concentrations of ammonia were usually higher than in the outdoor environment. A possible source of indoor ammonia could be the decomposition of infiltrated ammonium nitrate (López-Aparicio et al., 2011, Lunden et al., 2003), but the penetration of ammonium nitrate and ammonia from outdoors explained
only approximately 80%, 50%, 40%, and 20% of indoor ammonia levels in Teplice, Prague, Třeboň, and Zlatá Koruna, respectively. This indicates that all four archives also had another sources of ammonia.
